Waking Up On Mistake Street
SCHEISSE MINNELLI - Waking up on Mistake Street
File Under: Skatecore / Thrashpunk / old school 80s
Twelve full speed ahead Hardcore/skatepunk tracks with a „California-Style“ sense for catchy hooks, melodies and even melancholy. Songs about real life experiences Scheisse Minnelli have lived through themselves or people they know personally - punkrock-youth, criminal pasts, dealing with the world, experimentation with things like drugs as well as skateboarding and politics, of course.
„Waking up on Mistake Street“ is mostly about actual real life experiences the bandmembers of Scheisse Minnelli (or people they know close personally) have lived through themselves. Songs about criminal pasts and growing up , dealing with the world and or others about experimentation with things like DMT and other substances.
Sam: „The album title and title track is about a night we played with Pennywise in Berlin at the SO36. The next day one of our members was missing and we needed to get to a festival. He texted us and told us to pick him up at 'Fehler Str 1‘. We thought it was joke, the exact translation of the address is 'Mistake Street 1‘. Therefore `waking up on Mistake Street´, no joke….“

Waking up on Mistake Street became Scheisse Minnelli's first recording with sound engineer Adam Schwartz (f.e. Night Fever and The Movement from Denmark) whom they met on different tours, doing live-sound for Pennywise and Jello Biafra. Sam: „Adam would tell stories of travelling and touring with bands such as Verbal Abuse and RKL, it ultimately showed that he had an ear for the sound Scheisse Minnelli wanted.“ In November 2017 they packed their bags and went to record in Copenhagen. During one week they recorded all instruments and later all vocal-tracks live. Most of the music was done in 2 days. This album is the first they wrote and recorded with new drummer Marlon. His style is different and though the music sticks to the Scheisse Minnelli sound it also explores some new areas that they were expanding into. Some of the tunes contain a certain „California-Style“ sense for catchy hooks, reminding of old LA and Bay Area melodic Punk and early Hardcore Classics. And some, like „Going Back“ or „Lesson Learned“, even transport minor-chord driven moody melancholy or down and out drama.
